I can't speak for anyone else, but I had a wonderful time at this year's Mock Awards. There was spirited discussion and I thought the focus on the criteria for each award really helped everyone talk about the books in terms of eligibility for the awards, not just "I liked it" or "I didn't like it."

ALA announced winners today:
The Graveyard Book has won the 2009 John Newbery Medal.
Illustrator Beth Krommes won the Randolph Caldecott Medal for best American picture book for The House in the Night, written by Susan Marie Swanson.
Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta won the Printz award.
We did pretty good this year! House in the Night was our winner as well and Graveyard Book was one of our honors.
